Connecticut State Historic Preservation Office – We received a Survey and Planning Grant for a Building Condition Assessment, which provided a thorough examination of the entire building and its infrastructure in 2021. This valuable analysis by a licensed historic architectural firm will guide future maintenance, repairs and improvements. We received a Survey and Planning Grant in 2023 for a detailed study, report and recommendations for the building’s foundation, as well as a major Historic Restoration Fund Grant to restore the building envelope. Support for these projects comes from the State Historic Preservation Office of the Department of Economic and Community Development with funds from the Community Investment Act of the State of Connecticut.

CT Department of Economic and Community Development – An Urban Action Grant was obtained in 2020 from the State of CT DECD for infrastructure improvements to Town assets. This generous grant is earmarked for the Wood Memorial Library and is funding installation of our first-ever HVAC climate control system to better preserve the collections and the Archive, increase visitor and staff comfort, and improve energy efficiency.  Thanks to (then) Mayor Andy Paterna, Senator Saud Anwar, Representative Jeff Currey and the South Windsor Town Council for successfully requesting this support for a valuable Town asset.

1772 Foundation – A Historic Preservation Matching Grant was obtained from the 1772 Foundation in 2020 for repair of the Wood’s chimneys, slate roof and copper gutters, preventing further leaks into our treasured Colonial Revival building.

The Town of South Windsor – We received a Citizen’s Matching Mini-Grant in 2019 from the Town of South Windsor to replace the Wood Memorial Library’s aging and malfunctioning life safety and fire alarm system.

NuWay Tobacco/The Shepard Family – For their generous donation earmarked to completely repave our driveway and parking areas, as well as the South Windsor Historical Society’s adjacent driveway and parking area used by the Wood, and for matching the SW Citizen’s Mini-Grant in 2019 and the Historic Restoration Fund Grant in 2023.

Robert E. Raymond and the Raymond Family Trust – For matching the 1772 Foundation’s Historic Building Infrastructure Grant in 2019, the SW Citizen’s Mini-Grant in 2019, the Historic Restoration Fund Grant in 2023, and their very generous past and continued support of Wood Memorial Library Trust.

Many thanks to all for this support of the Wood Memorial Library Trust and Wood Memorial Library and Museum!
